AUD invoice processing

InvoiceHaven recognises Australian Dollar invoices, extracts GST and totals as printed, validates the arithmetic, and exports A$ data to Excel without converting currencies.

AUD invoice processing in InvoiceHaven means the invoice currency is read from the document, recorded as AUD, formatted as A$ in the app and in Excel, and preserved end to end. GST and total amounts are extracted as printed and checked arithmetically, and anything that does not reconcile is flagged for review before export.

Currency detection

  • AUD, A$ and AU$ are normalised to the ISO code AUD.
  • Australian context signals — ABN, Australian addresses, postcodes, and state names such as NSW, VIC, QLD, WA, SA, TAS, ACT and NT — support the reading.
  • A bare $ symbol with no other signal is not guessed; the currency stays editable in review.
  • The recorded currency drives display formatting and Excel number formats.

GST and total validation

Australian invoices commonly carry 10% GST, but InvoiceHaven never assumes a rate. It takes the GST figure printed on the document and checks that subtotal plus GST equals the invoice total, and that line items are consistent with the subtotal. Mismatches are flagged rather than silently corrected, so a rounding difference or an OCR misread is visible to you.

Invoices with no GST

When an invoice shows no GST amount — a supplier not registered for GST, or a GST-free supply — the GST check is reported as not applicable instead of failing.

What ends up in Excel

  • Supplier name and printed identifiers, including an ABN when shown.
  • Invoice number, invoice date and due date.
  • Currency code, subtotal, GST and total, formatted as A$.
  • Line items with description, quantity, unit price and amount.
  • Validation outcomes and duplicate flags for each invoice.

The export format itself is described on invoice to Excel and PDF invoice to Excel.

Australia and New Zealand in one workflow

Many businesses buy across the Tasman. InvoiceHaven serves both markets, so an A$ invoice and a NZ$ invoice can be processed in the same batch and exported into the same workbook, each keeping its own currency and formatting. For the New Zealand side, see invoice processing in New Zealand and GST invoice processing NZ.

Limits

  • No currency conversion and no exchange rates.
  • No BAS or GST lodgement, and no tax advice.
  • No ledgers, payments or supplier management.
  • Flagged invoices are meant to be reviewed by a person.

AUD invoice questions

How does InvoiceHaven know an invoice is in AUD?

It reads the currency as printed. Explicit markers such as AUD, A$ or AU$ are mapped to AUD, and Australian signals such as an ABN, an Australian address, a postcode or a state name support the reading. A bare dollar sign alone is never guessed — you can set the currency during review.

How is Australian GST handled?

The GST amount printed on the invoice is extracted and checked against subtotal and total. InvoiceHaven does not apply a fixed 10% rate; it validates the arithmetic of what the document actually shows and flags mismatches for review.

Does InvoiceHaven convert AUD to NZD?

No. The original invoice currency is preserved through extraction, review and export. No exchange rate is applied.

Can I export AUD and NZD invoices in the same workbook?

Yes. Excel exports apply per-invoice currency formatting, so A$ and NZ$ invoices can sit in the same multi-sheet workbook without ambiguity.

Does this help with BAS?

It produces clean, reviewed invoice data — supplier, invoice number, dates, subtotal, GST, total and line items — in Excel. That data can support BAS preparation, but InvoiceHaven does not lodge BAS and does not provide tax advice.

Is InvoiceHaven pricing in AUD?

InvoiceHaven pricing is in New Zealand dollars (NZD) regardless of the currency of the invoices you process.
